It's genuinely the most cheap way to derail a debate.
It's not even a "gotcha!" like a lot of people seem to think it is; it's just someone unintentionally admitting that they support horrible behaviour.

Hm...
"Whataboutism is a rhetorical strategy where a person responds to an accusation by pointing out a similar or worse offense committed by someone else, rather than addressing the original issue. This tactic is often used to distract from the criticism and can be seen as a form of logical fallacy known as tu quoque, or "you too" argument."
Yeah, that sounds moronic, but if people don't engage with that strand of the conversation, you're fine.
Yeah, basically.
Pretty much all I see from any whataboutism is accidental admittance. It's the most stupid thing to do in a debate as you reveal your true intentions to anybody with the slightest amount of awareness.
@Jojo I am now assuming that a certain person who's username is on my block list has made the kind of News Post befitting of his intellect. :3
(Please don't tell me if it is indeed so. I don't have the energy for any more large posts today.)
Oh no. Nothing like that. I am just talking about when I used to get into debates with people online. Now I just observe them without saying anything usually now. And almost ALWAYS without fail, there is a goddamn whataboutism from the party that is trying to defend something horrible.
Jojo
The average whataboutism is just shit like, "Yeah, you say those things about Hitler, but... what about Stalin? He killed even more pe-"
Dude, what the fuck are you even saying?!
